Multiple-entry Visas are available for business or work visas. These visas can only be obtained from a Mongolian Embassy or from the IOM in Ulaanbaatar. They can not be issues by this Consulate other than when pre-approved by application to either a full Mongolian Embassy or the IOM in Ulaanbaatar. These are issued to people who have work related reasons for regular travel to Mongolia. Each visit cannot exceed 30 days duration.
Long-stay, Work or Student Visas [Categories HG, H, S, T] can only be arranged directly through IOM or from a Mongolian Embassy. The Consulate in Wellington can advise you on this process and should you wish to apply for a visa in any of these categories you should, in the first instance, contact us for suggestions on how to progress your application. Once arrangements for a visa have been completed the IOM, through the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will notify this Consulate and we will issue an entry visa of the appropriate category which will then have to be extended through the IOM once the visa holder first arrives in Mongolia. Extensions to such visas should be sought from IOM as soon as possible after arrival in Mongolia.
Visas on Arrival - Visa on arrival arrangements are no longer acceptable for New Zealand passport holders at Chinggis Khaan (Ulaanbaatar) International Airport. For short term travel to Mongolia applicants should seek the required visa either from the Mongolian Consulate in New Zealand or a Mongolian Embassy or other visa issuing Mongolian Consulate prior to arrival in Mongolia.
